is that one of your built up ones or a bone stock one?
Believe it or not, my stock trans ran a 10.90 @ 130 with a 150 shot of spray. I was very lucky. Next run, my luck ran out, and I ripped the center piece out of the case.
I build them up pretty well to get them to run 10's and remain somewhat reliable.
Somewhat is the key word. I don't care who builds them, it is very hard to build them tough enough to go like the energizer bunny. At that power level, they need refreshing every so often.
My stock '89 700R4 is surviving still. I dyno'd 417 rwhp and 419 rwtq on a Land and Sea dyno on a 150 shot. I've since fixed a few issues and installed the 175 jets and it is still holding up strong. Have a B+M shift improver kit, 2800 tcs converter, and a tranny cooler. Other than that it is bone stock. Living on borrowed time, but living nonetheless.
Calderone, the newer ones are more durable, what year is yours? I'm not sure why you are asking but I wouldn't hesitate in modding the car. If you reach the majical unknown power number in which the trans comes unglued, contact PeteK. I'm sure I will be contacting him eventually!
I run 9's with my 700 but it is far from stock. The stock trans made it to 10.83 at 128 mph and it was done.A 9 inch converter and manuel valve body is the only way to realy get it to live,I also have 2 trans coolers .
It realy is a 4 speed without the clutch.
If you want to race the car don't ,if you want a race car buy one .
If you have big $$$ then go ahead and set the car up to race ,I would start with rapter trans in La.6k and see skii_down for a rear at $4999.95 and you are almost their
