Re: got a ? on vortec heads (jparr)
This month's Car Craft has a good article about the Vortec heads. They compared their flow to 3 other heads including the Bow Tie phase II and they came out on top. They flow almost as well as stock LT4 heads! At only $219 each that is cheap. The article has the installation notes which may answer your questions. In another magazine, they compared the Vortec heads to lots of other heads including expensive aftermarket models. The writers concluded that the Vortec head even if you have to buy the intake manifold was a real bargain.
By the way, the Car Craft article also tested Mopar and Ford GT40 heads. They do not flow well at all.
I suggest you contact Scoggin Dickey Chevrolet (www.sdpc2000.com) in Lubbock if you are leaning toward the Vortec heads.
Jay,
It doesn't look like you're getting much help on this. The BIG requirement that I am aware of, is a vortec specific intake manifold. Edlebrock (and maybe others) make vortec specific manifolds, but I believe that they are all for carbs. Scoggin-Dickey has a new (?) vortec TPI manifold. There is an article in the February, 2002 "Chevy High Performance" magazine. Check it out, it looks like a winner. Good luck.

Re: got a ? on vortec heads (CFI-EFI)
Amagine if they made an aluminum version and you could up compression a bit? I meet a racer using these heads on a 9 second truck, he thought they were the best thing since sliced bread, course he was running alcohol.
the vortec aluminum version is called 'fast burn'
62cc combustion chamber
hollow 2.00" intake/ 1.55" exhaust sodium filled valves
210cc intake port volume/ 78cc 'd' shaped exhaust port
