What's the best way to boost HP without spending a ton of cash. I was thinking about the ramair set up from K&N. Any other suggestions or ideas are welcomed.
Would like some ideas about this to....... Was thinking about fabing my own ram air kit for mine......Made all mine before, the vette can't be that much harder.....But would be a trick to get the nose peice to look good.... I was thinking about a Billet grille where the front plate is......and then painting to match the car...would not be that noticable..... Have to work it out on a drawing first to see what it would look like.......
To start around $300 - $500. I just replaced the trans....that set me back. No exhuast system :mad like i wanted. So I need to save up for a little...but still want to Go Faster! Besides that, my wife would get pissed if spent any more than that right now :p:
Hmm... ok where can we start. It all depends on how much you want to do, and how mechanically inclined you are. The more you can do yourself, the better. :)
Here are a few ideas for the "cheaper" things......
K&N Filter ~$50
Open Air Lid ~$59 if you buy one $0 if you modify yours.
4+3 Short Shifter Kit ~$23 reduces your shifts by 1/2 the length
Muffler Eliminators ~$60 installed
Comp Cam 1.6 Pro Magnum Roller Rockers ~$250
Front y-pipe w/o pre-cats ~$130
High flo Main cat ~$150
Underdrive Pullies ~$90
...65Z01 or Vic'89 will probably chime in, they both have very good experience with L98 engines. :)
For some simple bolt-ons and some "freebees" with track results check out my site.
The deal is lower temp, solid ignition and better air flow.
You can make a ram air by cutting out the leading edge of your filter lid and adding a rectangular scoop that exends down into the radiator air scoop opening. You would also need to make a rectangular cut out in the front edge of the radiator shroud to allow the scoop to pass down and of course need to seal off the top of the stock filter.
