Well fellas.Call me a C-4 guy! I just replaced the heater core in my '91 and all is well. Not leaking, everything else works (still) and I've got all the fasteners in my dash again (that's a long story related to having the dealer work on the car-won't make that mistake again. Not at that one anyway). Be happy to give tips and support to anyone contemplating doing this job themselves. It's not that bad- just requires a little patience.

WOW Walt ~ When did you find time for that? The PurpleC4 is most likely due, so if/when the time comes ~ I'll be a knocking on your door. Thanks for the offer to help. This is not one of the more commonly known projects on the Forum.

my heater is not functioning and since it looks like it might actually stay cold here in TX for a while I was wondering how difficult of a job it is. Also, where did you buy your heater core and for how much?
Hey Stan how're you doing? Did the core this week. Few hours here and there. Got it finished up Friday evening. I'm sure a shop would get ya for that one.
Hey 9d1 you should do some troubleshooting on that one. if the heater is not working it could be the core but it would most likely be blocked. I also suspect you might have someother cooling problem if it were blocked. In any case you might pull of the high fill resevoir disconnect the hoses going to the core and see if that is the case. Don't know how long you've had the car but it could have been leaking (that was what had happened to mine) and someone bypassed it to keep the coolant out of the car. That's how I've been driving mine for about 18 months. Anyway if it passes water and it's not leaking you would have another problem. It's enough of a job that you would not want to do it unless you're sure that's it. Now if it turns out to be something in the climate control system and you have to tear the dash out to get at , for example, the programmer, then you might want to replace the core while you're there. I got my core from Team Chevrolet in Scotts Bluff Nebraska. At the time I purchased mine they had the best price and free shipping but Corvette Central has them also. Or you might try your local dealer and ask about internet discounts. I've gotten 20-25% off on things locally that way.
Good Luck

It's great of you to offer the help! A little too late for me. :) Mine went out during the summer, and I had the dealer do it, 'cause I didn't have my Helms manual yet. :( Cost $650 bucks, and they broke 2 other parts doing it. Had to take it back twice to get fixed.
Saving this in "my notepad" .. cuz if/when mine goes out.. i'll be doing it myself too. I wonder how similar the '94 and '91 are behind the dash. I've heard it's a pain, but I'd rather it be a pain than have to pay someone $1k to do it!
