Default Are you thinking about upgrading your engine?

I see a lot of ads on Craigslist which look something like:
Following upgrades were made on my car: bla-bla-bla.
And now it runs like **** and I cannot do anything about it. Please buy my supercar and give me a lot of money because I spent gazillion dollars on it.
Another one:
My super 500 HP engine is dead and it also killed my transmission which couldn't handle my super engine. Give me a lot of money!
Well everybody does whatever makes him happy just don't expect to get your money back and don't expect your engine to last as long as original engine.
Another one:
I converted engine to carburetor, now it sucks 3 times more gas and my wife doesn't let me drive it!!!
-----------------------------------------
I buy cars with dead engine but I will never buy car which engine was intentionally screwed up by somebody.
Good luck!!!
Hopefully I saved somebody several thousand.

I think that's more the case of:
"I blew my engine racing, now I want to dump it on someone else telling them it's just a conversion gone bad."

Serious.

This is some of the basis for my rants. People get on the interweb and research parts and get input from other people who don't know their *** from their elbow. Then when their car doesn't run right, they are surprised.

Happens more than you know. I've heard this story again and again.

Reminds me of my youth when people would stick a 1200 CFM carb on a 350 and wonder why it ran slower. "everyone else is running fast with a big carb"...therefore..."big carbs make cars go fast"....as Cuisinartvette points out, same thing still happening. That's why I whine over and over....it's about the COMBINATION!!!

Same thing today, different parts. Whatcha looking at is poorly thought out combinations.
