tach. problem
New to the forum, I have a 96 corvette with 90K. The tach works only to the extent that it shows the correct idle RPM, but won't go any higher than about 2000 RPM at any one time. Everything else on the car works fine. Have any ideas as to what to check? Thanks for any help you can give me.

I think the '94 (might be '95) was the last year for the tach filter.
I believe the tach signal in the '96 is generated inside the ECM/PCM, and is derived from Opti-Spark signals (low-res and high-res pulses).
Are you getting any trouble-codes for the Opti-Spark signals?
