Default LT1 Conversion

I have a 92 chevy silverado shortbed with a 5.7 TBI motor. I have acquired a set of LT1 lauminum heads and intake with TB and injectors. What major mods would i need to do to mate this combo with the engine i have in the truck now. I have a .020 over 350 with Kieth Black pistons, balanced crank and mild cam. I will chose another cam for the combo but would love some opinions on a "hotter" cam. I have heard that the distributor setup is completely different from the one i have. Will i have to make major modifications to the injector wiring harness switching from 2 inj to 8 inj?

A hole has to machined into the intake for your distributor among other things.

It seems to me that you need new computer and all wires. And then you will still need to modify new wiring. Your transmission will not probably work with new computer. I am sure it would be pretty easy if you are GM engineer.
I forgot to say that fuel pressure for new injector set up should be 3 times more, so good luck to change fuel system!

LT1 heads will not work on GEN1 SBC engines without machinework. Unless you are a welder and can do the work yourself it would be cheaper to buy some good SBC heads. The is the reason stock LT1 heads can be found on EBAY so inexpensively they only fit GEN2 SBCs.

If you do a google search you can find threads on converting the heads to fit GEN1 engines.

For some reason I can't mod my previous post. Vortec heads are base on LT1 (iron chamber intake and exhaust ports) but have conventional cooling passages IOT use regular SBC block and accessories.

Here's a thread were a guy did an LT1 head and intake swap. Looks like a good write-up, but the pictures don't work.

That coversion is really not best for you.

For a truck your better off with an L98's TPI.

Great torque.

Everyone is suprized that GM never offered it in a truck!
