I have been battling for about 3 weeks now trying to figure out why I have a hunting idle after I replaced my injectors. I had a intake manifold leak but after fixing that the problem still persisted. I looked and looked and looked for a vacuum leak but couldn't find one.
One thing I noticed is the car wouldn't stay in Closed Loop anymore after putting on the computer. I assume it was related to the injectors or some sort of vacuum leak I caused during injector replacement.
I have never had this problem before that I noticed, so it was difficult for me to put 2 and 2 together. A few months ago I put on long tube headers. I haven't had an Open Loop issue (or the hunting idle) until now.
Finally I figured I knew that the open loop was a problem, maybe not THE problem so I tried putting a heated O2 on tonight just to take care of that. The nights have just gotten cooler, maybe it was warm enough to stay in Closed Loop before?!
Well that seems to have cleared up my hunting idle problem as well. Who knew!!!
Kinda crazy, anyhow... Figured I'd give a report back after asking so many questions on here.. I hadn't run into this before during my searching so I'd thought I'd post it.
Thanks for posting your cure, if everybody had the courtesy to do this we all would benefit from it. Too many times someone has gotten advice that worked for them so they are satisfied, then disappear until the next time they are in trouble.
