FueLab Brushless Variable Speed FP
I mentioned earlier I am a dealer/distributor for FueLab. FueLab makes great regulators and the new brushless variable speed fuel pump compatible with gasoline, ethanol, and methanol. This pump will support 1000 HP @ 80 psig.
I set the pump up like it would be in your L98/LT1 Vette. That is the pick-up consisted of a checkvalve into a 75 micron SS strainer. The pickup replaces your in-tank pump. The outlet of the pickup goes to the inlet of the pump which mounts behind the license plate, i.e., about 3 feet of 3/8" rubber fuel injection hose from top of tank plate to the pump. The outlet of the pump connects to 10 feet of 3/8" od aluminum tubing thru another 3 feet of rubber fuel injection hose. The end of that 10 feet of tubing I connected to the same GM fuel filter found on your vehicle. The outlet of the fuel filter connected to another 10 feet of 3/8" od tubing. That tubing ends up at my fuel bench test port.
At 13.5vdc and 80 psig the pump flowed 87 gallons per hour. At .5 BSFC thats enough fuel to support 1043 hp.
The reason I have taken the time to describe my test set-up is to demonstrate how the C4 fuel lines can easily support 1000 HP given enough pump head.
This pump is not for your everyday car - because it flows so much fuel you must connect a boost switch to it so it can operate at the low speed (about 7 to 8 amps) for everyday cruising. When you jump on it and the boost switch closes the pump jumps to full flow (or any level you want by simply adding a 'pot' or a fixed resistor).
Obviously at lower pressures the pump flows more but I chose 80 psig as a test point because in the real world you probably won't need a higher pressure. For instance running your injectors at 40 psig at idle with vacuum applied to rail regulator when you jump on it the pressure will rise to about 50 psig and as you go into boost (let's say 30 pounds of boost) you'd need 80 psig.
So, anybody in need of a killer pump take a look at: fuelab.com
