My 85 c4 started fine but idled rough, I cleaned the throttle Body and replaced thew IAC valve All new gaskets, Now the first time I start after it sits a couple of days, its hard to start turns over 5 to 6 seconds before starting, Set a code light code 54, after that it start just fine with no light ,untill it sits a couple of days. any ideas?
Code 54 is "fuel pump circuit". Sounds to me like you have an intermittent issue with the FP relay, perhaps, or something in that direction.
Check the wire harness connection at the FP relay for exposed wires or bad connections, try jumpering the relay itself to see if That solves the long crank time problem.
Search for other post involving fuel pump circuit and extended crank times - it seems to be a common deal of late. Simple enough to diagnose and fix, however..
