Default DIC Cover question

I got this cover plate that goes over the DIC from a friend who didn't want it anymore because it won't stay on the front of the DIC. It has a little felt strip along the bottom that I guess is suppose to help hold it in. But when you take off in the car, the plate just pops off.

Is this thing missing anything? How do you guys keep yours in?

I have a similar one with "CORVETTE" in white letters. It's been in and out several times over the past 1 1/2 yrs and has never fallen out. Of course my 60' time is only 2.02 sec so not that may Gs on launch.

Try another felt strip across the top (or maybe a thin layer of RTV). The two strips should create enough pressue to hold the cover in position.

BTW, the felt strip edge goes in first; then press the plate down and back until it is in position over the DIC.

I just got one and yes.... that's all there is. Mine popped in and is tight. It has not come out. It was a pretty tight fit. Maybe because the felt strip was new.

Alright.... Thanks,
I'll mess around with it and see what I can come up with.
