Title says it all. Im trying to start of with troubleshooting first since the ac hasn't worked worked since I got a couple of years ago. And so far the ac is not engaging at all. Im assuming there is no charge in the system so would the compressor still engage? How could I check the (if they are suspect) of the hi/low, clutch cycling switches? Where are they located?

it will not engage. there is a pressure switch in there.
ok, so this won't necessarily tell me that the compressor is not working since there possibly isn't any pressure due to no charge. Once I confirm that there is no pressure and put some charge in there, the compressor should engage if its still working correct?

......could also be a defective pressure switch, bad fuse/relay....i would check to be sure that you have power at least to that point...you can also place a set of gauges on the system and verify charge......
There is a large pressure switch located in the ac plumbing at the top right side by the firewall. It looks like an engine oil pressure switch, 2 wires & a black electrical connector. This is the ac low pressure switch. Make up a jumper wire with 2 male spade connectors, remove the electrical connector & place the jumper wire in the connector. Try the Ac & if the compressor runs the system is low on charge.
This is for test purposes only, do not leave the jumper wire in place to run the ac. It will not cool the car properly if its low on freon & the compressor will overheat.
IF the compressor does not run when you jump the low pressure switch connector you have an electrical problem or a bad compressor clutch.
