1996 4l60e experts please read
One, the illustration in my brand new FSM (from Helm) does not match the valve body. Specifically, the 3-2 downshift valving shown in the book is the 93-95 style rather than the 96 and later.
Two, either I'm blind, stupid, or there was no spring behind the 3-2 downshift valve. I don't think I lost it. That particular valve didn't want to come out and I tried pressing on it to compress the spring I assumed was there and hopefully pop it out. Didn't work. When I did manage to get the valve out out that's all there was. No spring.
This was a GM rebuilt transmission. Is it possible that the spring was left out on purpose?
