Automatic shifter problem
I have a friend at work that has a 1995 LT1 Coupe. Sometimes when the car is started, the brake is pushed, the button on the shifter will not push in. He pushes as hard as he can but it does not engage. After a few minutes it will catch and the car can be put in gear. Is this unit going out, or could there be another problem. I said I would ask in here, if no one here knew then no one would.

He should pull the cover panel and examine the shift gate and the button shaft for obstruction. Unless there is an interlock it should push down easily.
