Ok so i have a 700r4 tranny attached to my 350 crate. The tranny starts slippin really bad when she gets hot. I was told that the car sat too long in the elements and that the seals are most likely dried out which could be the culprit. So, before i go spending an arm and leg, i wanted to know if some transmission seal conditioner or any other additive for that matter, might do me any good?
If it has never been rebuilt and upgraded, the 3-4 clutch packs are a weak point.
Get it rebuilt. Run a good auxilary trans cooler also.
I don't know if "dry Seals" will cause slipping. Formula has a good point here about a cooler.
What will cause slipping is your converter overheating and turning your fluid to water. If you are planning it anyway, throw a $60 cooler on it before you go pulling it out and see if that might do the trick.
I would try adding the cooler first and see if that works. If it still slips, then it needs a rebuild and you will have the auxilary cooler already installed.
