Been reading all the posts on this. Mcleod is suppose to be making a bellhousing, but was bought out and i have heard nothing about if they plan on finishing one. Also read that adaptor plates are on the way, but heard nothing else. If any one knos of any thing in the works it would be very helpful. I want a LS in my c4 so bad that i pulled out a zf core and been doing sum measuring. Talked to the machinist at work and and have a few ideas rolling around. Looking at having a bolt in kit for a LS in a c4 using a zf with motor mounts. Use the stock LS cultch and all the c4 factory clutch position.
If nothing eles is out there i will persue this with the intent to be a bolt in kit other than crossmember mods for the balancer. It makes me sick that there are kits to put a LS in a miata but not our beloved c4. I have most of the measurments and it is very doable and be realtive simple for the average person to install. I am not making any promises that it will work out as i have planed, but im not that far away.
So how many I DO'S would be in for a kit that mounts a LS to a ZF with motor plates?
I would be very interested in doing this to my car, mainly because it looks like it would be cheaper for the same amount of performance. I have a hard time justifing spending 10 to 12 grand on a new engine for a car worth 6 or 7.

One main issue is that the LS flywheel is larger in diameter then the ZF unit so it won't fit under the ZF bell housing. If you make an extension for the bell housing then there is a problem with the input shaft being too short. Now you could convert your transmission to a ZR1 long shaft but that's not cheap to do!
Or you could manufacture a whole new bell housing...but that's not going to be cheap either.

yep this is a lot of difference. Hope I dont wind up with an answer that requires a NEW bell housing.
Very, very interesting. I wonder if this would work with the LSx C4 motor mounts and headers. I would hope this keeps the trans in the same place so the stock c-beam will work, but it seems unlikely that it won't move some.
called them today and yes it is 450 plus s/h. the only concern i have is which zf it is for. Ross(owner) did not kno that there are 2 zf's. didnt have a clue about the input shafts. but it does keep it in the same place. He also said its been a good seller as they have sold bout 30 of them. SO WHERE THEY AT? I dont kno how speedhound motor mounts position the engine, but the plates we have at work should be able to be used to bolt in the L98 cars. So that thankfully puts a end to me tring to work with the bell housing and adaptor plates i had in mind. I was bout 4 hrs away from having it mounted..lol. I plan on ordering one in a couple weeks and see what its all about. If any one has one or gets one before i do speak up and share some info. It will be good info for the 6 spd guys.

Thanks Mr6spd for the link!!!!!!!1
I would highly doubt they made it for the ZR1 long-shaft, as they are pretty hard to come by. Like everyone else I'm just curious if it keeps everything in the same spot, the C-Beam being the key.

more than likely it is for the short shaft. Claims the trans does not move. Just a bell housing like all the others that have been made over the yrs. I'll kno in a couple weeks.
how about a new tailshaft that would replace the stock T56 tailshaft to make a sweet ls/T56 swap without alot of other custom parts.
I think most want to keep the ZF and just do a motor swap. If the bellhousing keeps the trans in the same spot it would be a lot cheaper to just do a motor swap.
