I did everything, no plastic covers. I took the tail light lenses and back up lights off. Then taped off the fog lights, side markers and rear brake light and did them while on the car.

I used lacquer thinner on my fog lights to get it off when i got a few runs in mine, be careful tho it can eat away at the plastic. Fog lights and tail lights should be fine but i know it will eat away at the plastic on the back-up lights. That stuff is thin so you have to put real light coats on.

Put them in a shallow container filled with brake fluid for a day or so. The tint will come off with no problem - use an old toothbrush to wipe it off.

Hold the can out farther and just go over it once, if you don't et it all, don't worry about it. Let it dry a few mins, then go over again from a slight distance. You just want to get the mist on, that way it doesn't run. Put a few coats on to get the desired darkness.

I've not done my lights, but am becoming a master spray painter LOL

For the front marker/fog lights I use the static mesh. For the side-lights and rear lights I use the VHT Night Shade. The problemwith the static cling mesh is that if an edge comes loose especially in the front it could peel off at speed. Below is the link for the static cling mesh.

I like the idea of the window tint somebody recommended. As someone else recommended when using the spray do it in light dry coats and not one heavy coat to avoid runs. Take off the rear tail lights and spray off the car. For the other lights you just have to decide if it's easier to remove or mask off.

Just remember, there are some states, possibly all of them that prohibit affixing anything on any of your lights. If you decide to do this, just remember that you risk getting a ticket if your state prohibits it.

No problem in Austin, TX area. I've had tinted lights for 10 years no stops/tickets. I had plastic tinted lense covers on a '98 Dodge Ram SS/T pickup and got stopped. The nice thing about the Night Shade spray is that it giv the effect while retaining stock lights and isn't dark enough to really attract any attention from law enforcement. On the otherhand add on lense covers are typically darker and cover the stock lights making them a law enforcement magnet.
