I want to replace the black cloth trim material under the rool but i dont know how to take it off. The material is starting to sag. Also, do you know where I can get the replacement material for it?
I was able to trim around the headliner with a razor blade which released it from the edges. The pad will come off the top with the old headliner since it should be velcroed onto the top. The pad can be recovered and reattached to the headliner, possibly with an adhesive instead of the old velcro.
You can get a piece of lexan or plastic, and slide it under the fabric, and pull slightly as you go, and work the plastic between the cloth and the top. It will release because the glue is so old.
I removed my headliner, and reattached it.
If yours is bad, just go to a fabric store, buy the material of your choice, and glue it on. I hear u can get cork at lowes or home depot to use as an underlayment.
My headliner was sagging, and the underlayment was ok.
I bought a can of spray glue, taped off the top (upside down sitting on a towel on a bench) and used a 5 inch wide piece of plastic, smoothed out the wrinkles as I splooged it back in place. looks great now
I just took mine off and left it off!! I sanded the underside and painted it black. I thought about carpeting it like the old vettes, but haven't got around to it.
