Default Power seats not working, tried everything!!

1994 with sport seats.

I took apart the seat motors on the drivers side and found the motors were rusted on the same spot on all three. I cleaned them off, put some new dielectric grease on the brushes and put back together.

Checked the relays which are clicking for when the DS/PS selector is on PS but not on DS. I sprayed electrical contact cleaner on the switches and reinstalled.

I know the previous owner left the driver window open and some water got in. The motors showed evidence of this. Will they ever work or do they need to be replaced?

Also, does the switch seem to be a problem also?

I'm stumped.

Did you start by checking the fuse? Then the hot wire to both sides, driver and passenger? Do the other seat functions work? Go to the individual switches with a test probe and see if they have power. Just follow the power to each accessory and that should find the problem for you.

Fuse and circuit breaker are fine. The switches have power.

None of the seat functions work. They click, but do not work.

I know its after the fact, but it would have been easy to jump the motors when you had the seats and motors apart. +12 volts and ground to each motor to make sure they spin. Might want to pull the seats again to do this since it sounds like the motors may have been in water.

First determine if the problem is in the motor(s).

I believe so because each motor had spot of rust that indicated water. I know the previous owner left the driver window open because it stopped working and left the car outside for a short time with a cover on it.

The rust is not coming off, so I am thinking the motors are not reacting to the magnets to be able to move?

You put dielectric grease on the face of the brushes??

Its not meant to go there if you did.

No, not on the brushes.

Looks like when the motors got locked up, the switches started to overheat.

So, I now need to buy a new motor and switches.

How is the motor removed off the track?

Motors are easy to get off.

Default power seat

I had a problem on my 95 drivers seat. I traced the problem to how the plugs were connected. If you go direct to the motors from the harness nothing worked. You have to go through the relays and then to the motors. When I got the plugs connected properly it worked fine.
