Default l98 connecting rods

hi
i'm rebuilding a 91 vette and i don't know what connecting rods should i buy, i bought a engine complete kit on rockauto but it didn't come with the conrods, when i took off the stock rods 4 of them were bent, so can u give me some advice?

If they're truly bent you need new ones. at a minimum they need to be checked/re-sized.

Depends what you're trying to do with the engine as far as what you need from a strength perspective....ie "regular" rods, forged H-beams, etc.

For just street use, you'll be fine with a regular set of I-beam rods and should be able to find a set of 8 for less than $200.

I would be worried about what bent them and crank damage.

My advice is to find a reputable machinst to check the block before spending any more money on that puppy. Bent connecting rods!!!!

thanks a lot
i already took the crank to a shop and it's fine, it was polished and the block was checked too and looks like it has another chance, i bored it to .020 and everything else remains std.
is there any rods in special that you guys would recommend?
it will be for street use

Any connecting rod will work in your application; you must be sure to get the appropriate top end on the rod. It will be set up to use with either a pressed on piston or what's called a full floating piston. You probably have the pressed variety (check to be sure) so just be sure to match up what piston type you have with the rod type you choose.

Rebuilt stock rod with good rod bolts are cost effective.
Next step up is a chinese forged rod. Bang for the buck isnt bad.
