Default [ quick] how tight should i get my O2 sensor?

How tight should I get the new sensor. Should I tighten the hell out of it or fear stripping?

Sure is a beyhotch to get to that little wire clip and undo it and re-snap it.

Run it down until it bottoms out then turn it 5 full turns. :D

You can damage it by overtighening it. I wouldn't use thread lock though. I saw one pop out (I didn't see it happen!) at an autocross on a C4 last year. Obviously, that one was not quite tight enough.

I do believe that torque specs in the manual call for 30 ftlbs on those. Do not add sealant as they come with a silicone sealant that hardens up when it gets up to temp. There are O2 sensor sockets on the market as I have one myself. Right tool for the right job.

You sent me an IM and for some reason I was thinking of KNOCK Sensor!!!

Tighten the O2 sensor down just like you would a spark plug. There is a torque spec for it, but I never used it. How am I gonna get a torque wrench down there????!!!!

Go buy an O2 socket from Pep Boys or something. You won't use it much, but when you do you'll be glad you have it. The O2 comes with anti-sieze on the threads, don't add anything to it. Just snug it down real good and you'll be fine.

That is how I tighten mine, just like a spark plug.

I've got an 02 socket as well. It's called a wrench. But then again I've got headers so they are REAL easy to get to ;) There are some real benefits to modding your car.
