when I got in my car I hit the ASR button as usual and didnt even pay any attention to it. But I happened to look over about 10 miles down the road and both the service ABS and service ASR lights were both on. What would have caused these lights to suddenly go on? Loose wire?
Try filling your master cylinder. my 92 use to do it all the time when I went into a curve fast, or stopped fast or even started fast.
Make sure it is full att the way to the top. :flag
Jump the A to G terminals of the ALDL connector(that's top right and bottom left) and turn the key on and watch the speedo ABS/ASR codes are found in 9.1 a code 83 would be low brake fluid, they did come out with a revised reservoir bulletin #93-5-135 part number 12512995 this would be for 92 and 93 up to vin# P5114078 you will also need seals part # 12509976. Yes you can just make sure to keep the fluid fill but this would also be a good time to flush the brake fluid then install the new reservoir(seeing how you can't clean out the old one) and get to start over again with clean fluid. But you need to see what codes you have there are a number of things that could give you what you got, lights on while you were driving.
I have the same problem with my 93 Ruby, only the parking brake light flickers on too. I took it to a local dealer's service department(because they're close) and they said I needed a new brake master cylinder, new rear brakes and new sealed hub bearings. I didn't ask if it was rear bearings or not because I was in shock. With the four wheel alignment included, it would have been $2200 for repairs! Of course I told them I needed a second opinion.
I don't see how bearings could go with only 43,000 miles on the odometer.
It's a 10 year old vehicle, but it still seems really early to me.
Please let me know what y'all think. Could all those lights coming on indicate the problems I listed?
As stated just before use a paper clip to jump the A to G terminals and see what code is setting and then go from there. It's true worn brakes will lower the fluid level enough to set a low fluid code (83) but also the 92 and 93 had a resevoir that caused this to happen just to easely.
It's the 12 pin connector under the dash on the drivers side above the gas pedal but not as far under, it may have a plastic cover on it but most seem to fall off and get lost.
