NHTSA: Search For Recalls
Model: CORVETTE
Model Year: 1984
Manufacturer: GENERAL MOTORS CORP. Mfr's Report Date: AUG 26, 1991
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 91V143000 EA90033
NHTSA Action Number: EA90033
Component: SEAT BELTS:FRONT:ANCHORAGE
Potential Number of Units Affected: 231833
The driver & passenger belt assemblies for my '89 were replaced
by a dealer at no charge to me. I approached the service dept
with my VIN, they confirmed that the campaign applied to my
vehicle. The parts were ordered and upon arrival, a service date
was arranged for the shop to replace the belts.
I suggest that you visit the dealer to present the VIN # for your
vehicle to determine whether the replacement has performed yet.
I anticipate that unless (and perhaps even if) the campaign has
already been performed, then the mfr has a standing obligation
to comply with the order to repair inoperative belts. This late
in the game, you may not have much choice in colour selection.
I recall that there used to be a page at NHTSA where an owner
could input a VIN to bring up all applicable campaigns. However,
I do not see this page today.
