I got that code last night after my SES light went on, then off after 5 mins. How difficult was replacing the EGR on the LT1? Factory shop time says .3 hrs. What should I beware of? Any tips or tricks?
Mike
Changing the EGR valve is really easy to do. I changed the one on my previous 96 in no time. There are only a couple of bolts to be removed.
If I remember correctly there was only one obstruction to getting to the EGR bolts but it was easily moved out of the way. I changed mine from standing on the driver's side.
Sometimes a good spraying with carb cleaner can remove the build-up of carbon that can cause the EGR valve to stick..
I put a hand vacuum pump on it tonight and it moves freely, but will not hold vacuum. The FSM says it should hold for at least 20 secs. This drops right down. I would suspect the bladder is bad. Where did you get your replacement, and what was the approx cost?
Mike
Be sure and inspect your EGR diaphragm, too. Mine was visibly cracked and dry-rotted, leaving it unable to hold vacuum when commanded by the ECM and EGR solenoid.
I replaced it with a new one and voila! No more code 32.
