Doing the full tune up today, opti, waterpump, msd wires, and NGKs. (thanks for all the tips). I thought I read the bosche (sp?) 02's werent good for our LT1's is this true? Should I just get the cheapos?
Right, dont get the Bosch O2 sensors. Get the GM sensors. They are the correct ones for the car and already have sealant on the threads. Your 1994 needs 3 sensors. They run around $43 a piece and are available from Ecklers, The Last Detail, etc.
Hmmm.....thats strange...I replaced my bad O2 with the Bosch and haven't had any problems. Actually, increased my gas mileage. (of course, I realize this is b/c I had a bad O2) What is the bad thing about the Bosch O2's??
I've always hated Bosch, but that's about the only brand O2 sensor you can buy around here without going to the dealership. Anyway, as far as O2 sensors go I've never known anybody to have a problem with them. But then again yesterday I used a pair which led to this post http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=217443
I'll drive the car again today and see if it did take care of the problem.
BTW, what's up with the 3 O2 sensors? I thought only the OBDII cars were annoying enough to have that sort of thing, and then I thought it was 4. Two in front of the cats, two behind. Where's the 3rd on on the 94's?
Don't get me wrong, I don't doubt you, you have a 94 and I don't. I'm just wondering.
Why 3 O2 sensors? I have no clue... Probably has to do with the varying stages of the OBDI to II upgrade. 94s and 95s have varying degrees of OBDII stuff, leading up to the 96 full-blown OBDII system. Anyway, one sensor in front of the each cat and one sensor behind the passenger cat.
The '94s were the test mule for the OBDII system. They put an extra O2 sensor behind the cat, but the one behind the cat doesn't even send info to the computer.
