Default Defroster connector snapped.

The connector on my defroster snapped on the glass... where can i get a new connector with the wire connected to it and how do i attach it to the glass hatch. they all seem like they are brittle and need to be replaced where can I get the parts and where how do I connect them, is it safe to solder the wire on to the glass directly.

Can you provide an image showing the issue. I can not look
at my '89 at the moment to see what you might be dealing with.

Has a pigtail that was originally attached to the element on the glass
has broken where it joined the element? Or has the plastic housing
for the connector on the body harness side broken?

ACDelco offers a wide selection of plugs (male), sockets (female)
and pigtails (plug or socket preassembled including the internal
connectors and a short length of wire)

They have a website here with a search function

Standard Motor Products and/or Echlin are other sources for
automotive electrical bits. NAPA and other places distribute
them.

My vote is that in the case that a wire has broken off at the element,
a determined careful person could make a repair. Low temperature
electrical solder, a pencil-style iron and possibly some gentle
pre-heating of the glass to minimize possibility of thermal shock are
some of the key aspects I would be thinking about. Engaging the
assistance of/seeking advice from a skilled autoglass repairman would
be on my To-Do list.

Needless to say, cost and difficulty of locating and replacing a
hatch warrants proceeding with care.

You can buy an epoxy type repair kit at the parts store specificly for that. Like JBweld only it conducts. I just soldered the one back on my ex's Camaro. The terminal is not anything special. parts store should have that too.

I alligator clipped mine. Solder wouldnt work, as the cable is pretty tough, and JB weld may not be able to handle amps.
