As the title says I'm opening that can of worms yet again. I'm building a 396 for my 92 and I'm wondering where to go with the clutch(Be nice now!). I had a Fidanza aluminum SM flywheel, Valeo PP, and Mcleod sprung disc behind my 383. I had no complaints about the clutch per se just didn't care for how the flywheel drove on the street. Chalk it up to a learning experience, just to light for my tastes. That and the customer service from Fidanza was terrible, but that's another story.
For the 396 I'm going to use an F-Body turned down factory flywheel. I did a search through the forum and didn't come to any reasonable conclusion. Many praised the Spec clutch while others cursed them. Mcleod came up a few times, which if they are using the same Valeo PP I might as well stick with what I have.
I'm not looking to ever drag race the car, I do want to do a road course now and then, other than that the car will mainly driven on the street.
I have switched to a RAM push type hydraulic TOB set up. Gives you a few more options. Search for LD85 posts. He has done the conversion and had a nice write up.
