if it is restricted it will. my cat was already gutted when i purchased my car. i did have a '92 5.0 a few years ago, and when i gutted them, i picked-up almost .3 seconds in the quarter. i also noticed a change in exhuast tone. ijust saw in your sig you have dynmax mufflres. i had the 2 1/2" 2chamber flowmasters on my 5.0, and man after those cats were gutted the sound was killer!! :yesnod:

I don't know if I got any performace gains from it, but it certainly made my car idle louder. Its a little more agressive. I'd say a tenth would be a good guess and maybe 1 mph.

usually only if the cat is clogged up, will increase resonance if you have a new exhaust. You might want to put a straight pipe in it afterwards.

When I did my front Y, cat and cat-back my ET dropped 0.3sec (with the same short times) and trap speed went up by nearly 3mph.
You should pick up 5-10hp from a hi-flow (or gutted) cat, more if it's clogged.
You might pick up 10hp or so from changing to a mandrel bent 2 1/2" front Y.
