Never heard of clutch chatter being an issue, but the KS is just a tuned (for 5-6 kHz) microphone, for all intents and purpose. If you're somehow causing some mechanical noise of significant amplitude, there's always the possibility that a sufficient portion of that noise may be in the 5-6 kHz range, causing the ESC to call for retard.
