I live about 200 miles away from where I go to school. Taking the drive this weekend, about 1/2 way the SES light came on. No other lights, car has full power, but when I shut the car off and then on it goes away. Sometimes it comes back on and sometimes not. I have done the following to my 1990 Z51: 30lb injectors, ZZ4 cam, LT4 springs, no mufflers. After all this I had a chip burned and it ran great. I removed the EGR valve and tube but it was not on the tune. Would this cause a SES light?
If you pull the codes and it is the EGR, IIRC, you can put a diode in the circuit that tricks the ECM. Check out this forum member's personal website here for more info on 'faking' the EGR system.
Probably EGR is giving you the code (that would be 32). Check out, which code is set. This is a bit too late advise, but you should have had the EGR diagnostics turned off when you had the chip burned:
Thanks. Yeah I didnt think about the EGR until after the chip was burned. I am doing some mods this winter and will have the EGR added to the list for the re-burn.
To check codes I can put a jumper between pins A and B and turn the key to on correct? Then the SES light flashes the code? Its been a while since I diagnosed a car this way so I am tring to refresh my memory.

Yep. First it flashes code 12 three times, after this come all stored codes and after all codes have been flashed, again code 12. And then the cycle starts over.
Ok I finally got around to pulling codes and I got 32 (which stated before is the EGR) and 41. I dont know what 41 is because I dont have a manual. Does anyone know or can tell me where to look it up?
Also, I was driving around town and when the SES light comes on the car stumbles under load such as hard acceleration. Would a code 41 make this happen?
Code 41
Cylinder Select Error
(Faulty or Incorrect Mem-Cal)
Basically it sounds to me like your custom computer chip needs to be reseated. It sounds like under hard acceleration it might be making intermittent contact.
It turns out it was loose. Can I put something like a paper towel in between the ECM lid and the chip to keep it from coming out again? That chip wont get hot enough it ignite the paper towel will it?

I wouldn't think so but I would suggest something non flammable, or with a much higher ignition point. Something plastic or leather might work.
