Default Houston Texas Emmisions ?

I plan on putting headers on my vette and eliminating the EGR and pollution crap.
I also want to go to an lt1 conversion or a stealth ram setup.
How will this affect me when its time for a state inspection?
How tight are the rules/regulations?

my car is a 91 TPI

What year model do you have? The test isn't Cali tough, but its a
pretty tough test. My firebird failed with a bad EGR valve, so you
may want to keep that. benny

The EGR is actually a good thing for your motor, why everyone is in a hurry to rip it off and trash it especialy when they have to pass emissions
It doesnt hurt anything.

The EGR system is and is not a good thing for your motor. it helps at cold start, however once the motor is warm it can hamper the performance. also as the egr valve on many cars is vacuum dependent. which can become a damper on those go fast numbers. if a vehicle is in a proper state of tune, removing all the "emission crap" would not negatively affect the environment any more that one with the system in place.

well I purchased a big mouth TPIS manifold.. So I can keep it all now but i hate the way it cludders the engine bay. The only reason i want to get rid of all that crap is looks. I wish there were a way to keep the EGR and get rid of the air pump.

Rafael, It was good to meet you. Thanks for buying the manifold!

You can keep the EGR and delete the air pump. Just cap off the lines on the headers, and leave all the egr equiment in place.

It was very nice to meet you. Thanks for coming to my rescue.

Just depends on who you take it too and if they forgot their glasses that day.
