This is not about my vette but is about an LT1. My Z28 shows the low coolant light after warming up a bit, yet the coolant is at the appropriate level when I check it. I DID take off the cap and watch the coolant but it never got below the rim.
When I hook up to my diagnostics, it says "fan failure" at the time the light comes on. As this point the temp is still half way or below on the guage.
The temp usually stays in the middle of the gauge (I guess that would be about 210 unless I'm in traffic at stoplights often. At that time it gets pretty close to the red. When I leave it idle in my driveway it does get about 3/4 of the way to red, but eventually comes back some.
Is there anything else I can do?
I'm just concerned that if I sit in traffic too long it may boil over.
I had a similar problm on my 86 vette. Use your diagnostic tool to clear out the code. It may or may not work. If the computer got one bad reading one time, it will be stored in the computer for so many start ups, usually 50. It could be that the fan failed to click on one time and it is an old code.
Hope it helps. Always start off with the cheapest solution and if you've already got the scan tool, than thats the one.
