How much oil for LT4

How much oil for LT4
My LT4 manual says to add 4 1/2 quarts of oil when changing the oil but the dipstick tends to show a half quart low when doing this. Are any LT4 owners using this method or are you guys adding the full 5 quarts?

My LT1 calls for 5 and shows full with 4 1/2. Want to swap manuals? That'll fix it! :D
