Default starting problems after layup

I have a 1989 C4 and i am having starting problems. After not using the car for 4 days it takes a long time to fire up, I've now not used it for 8 days and can't get it started at all. Have taken a plug out and it was dry, so I assume it's a fuel problem. I am English & live in France so unless it's French made, under 2 litres & runs on diesel no one can help.
Has anyone had a similar problem who can advise me, many thanks, Adrian

Under the dash drivers side is the ALDL, two rows of pins, the lower actually has only one pin on the left side. Run a wire from the positive side of the battery to this pin (G), that will bypass the fuel pump circuit and provide 12 volts directly to the fuel pump, the pump will run (unless it's shot) until the wire is disconnected. Try this, if it runs and starts the car it will continue to run. If it does you need to trouble shoot the fuel pump circuit. BTW, you may also want to check the fuses.
