Default Removing LT4 AIR Pump

Tried searching on this, but most of the stuff I found regarded L98s, which I also saw were substantially different from the LT1/4 systems.

I have to replace one of my headers, so I'm thinking of eliminating the AIR system and getting new ones with no bungs. The LT1 pump is electric, correct? So would I need a new serpentine belt? I'd like to just be able to get the new fitting-less headers, remove the AIR pump and lines, and be set. I plan on getting LT1-Edit and doing some self-tuning on my car soon, so the code is not an issue.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, the pump is electric. You will need someone to program out the ODBII error codes.

Thanks; I was mainly concerned about the serpentine belt, but sounds like that's not a factor.

Not a factor at all.

In addition to programming out the code, you'll also need to put a block-off plate over the rear of the intake where the air pipe bolts up.

TPIS sells plates or you can make your own... If you rather make your own I don't mind helping you make one. I have some steel in the garage.

I've taken off my intake manifold about 4,000 times, so I know what you're talking about. Thanks Rob, I might take you up on that offer. I may be able to snag some scrap metal from the machine shop and make one here, but I'll let you know!

Right now I'm looking at just getting a pair of Stainless Works headers. I like the thought of a full stainless exhaust
