Default LT1 short block in w/ L98 components?

Can anyone confirm whether or not an LT1 short block will work in a '91 L98? Has anyone performed this swap?

Thanks!

The mating points for the block are the same, so it's a bolt in. Component wise, you also have to use the LT1 (or LT4) heads, waterpump, intake, distributor (Optispark in the case of the LT1), etc. In other words you can't just take an LT1 block and bolt all the L98 stuff to it.

You can't put L98 heads on an LT1 w/o modifying them for the cooling passages.

The WP is different on the LT1.

EDIT
Here's a good primer on LTX's

Thanks guys. That link is some good stuff! I think either a rebuild or an L98 shorty is in order.

4x4 pickers are fond of LT1 complete engine to up their old carbed sbc1's, with the intake modded to accept an l98 dizzy, use an l98 ecm...almost a "drop-in"
