how do i replace console trim plate

Remove the storage compartment lid (4 screws). Lift carpet in the storage compartment and ou will see 2 screws holding the rear of the cover. In the front cup holder there is a small torque head screw to remove. Lift rear of the cover first and slide it back a little to clear the tabs that go under the radio trim piece.

Also remove the shifter ball.
I was looking at replacing mine until I saw the price. Instead opted to employ some epoxy (hinge repair) and a couple of cans of paint. Came out nice.
(After laboriously removing the goo that the original coating had become)
(A few light coats of satin black Krylon followed by a couple of coats of satin clear acrylic)

I have a question. How in the hell did you manage to properly sand down the coin slot area? I'm resanding and painting mine again because I couldnt get the hard to sand areas smooth enough. I'm thinking some light dremel work may be needed this time with a really small bit.

Rick, I sanded it as well as I could using small pieces of folded or rolled up sandpaper and a lot of patience. The hard to reach spots got hit with "denatured" alcohol on a cotton swab. The entire piece was given a final wipe with the alcohol. Denatured alcohol will eventually remove all of the old coating but it takes some work.
