Default Carpet Types

Not sure if this is the right area for this question or not, but I have found some good prices on replacement carpet for my car. ('93 Ruby, LT1)
Anyway, and I know I am asking for trouble asking opinions, but there is an $80 dollar differance from Jute to black mass. Is the mass backed really that much better?

I have used both. Jute did not hold up well at all.Trashed it in favor of mass backed.

go with the mass backed, well worth it. Makes a big difference in noise reduction. At least it did for me when I redid my carpetting last year. The previous owner had replaced it with non mass back carpetting. Luckilly it fadded over time giving me the excuse to change the carpetting.

i think, the asphalt (black mass) stuff in the backing of the carpet pre-dates dynamat and other similarly black gooey noise suppressors on the market today
