Ok, installed the gauge pod and wiring today, and the gauge doesn't seem to power up.
My question is if I can use the ground as I am here. I have moved my cooling fan override switch to the a-pillar and am piggybacking the same ground that I am using for the fuel pressure gauge. The ground for the fans splices off of the ground for the gauge.
When applying 12V to the guage, I get nothing. I will recheck the soldering job I did on the switch for it when I get time this weekend, but I figured I would ask here first. Also the wire for the switch for the gauge is very very thin. I am going to pick up some better stuff tomorrow for it.
p.s.
The cooling fan switch works flawlessly, grounding one relay in the left position, off in the center, and grounding both relays in the right position.
From what you have written it should work(that is if the groung wire from the gage to ground is large enough to handle both) does the back lighting work? If it lights up I would suspect the groung is good but if you get nothing you may need to go back and check the power lead and go from there.

Check the GUAGES fuse in the fuseblock. Also, check to make sure that all the wires are connected. I had some trouble with the wiring coming from the rearview mirror. Make sure all grounds are good solid FULL TIME grounds.

No fuses are blown, everything in the car works. I am suspecting that my power lead isn't connected somewhere.
Are you applying +12Vdc to the gauge through the sw or indeed directly?
Are you using the "switched" +12Vdc to the rear view mirror light, not the dimmed light but the map light (I've used this one for my Cobra radar detector)?
Do you measure +12Vdc actually at the + connection of the gauge?
Does the gauge light come on with the parking lights?
Do you measure any voltage at the sending signal connection of the gauge?
Since the gauge is likely to be a low current draw item, #22-#26 ga wire should work.

I am applying the power (or trying to) through the mini SPST toggle switch. The source of this is a switched +12Vdc that I found right by where the hood cables are. It is a pink wire with black stripe.

I haven't broken out the multimeter yet, too cold. :)

Digital gauge, no backlight. It only has a dimming function that you enable by connecting a lead to a power source that is switched on when the headlight switch is activated.

I'm still waiting for a fuel rail fitting before I can connect the sending unit. Without the sender connected it is still supposed to power up and give you an ERR message.

You sure it isn't the power wire running to the bose amp? If it was, you would only have power on that wire if the amp relay was engaged...and you are running the din and a half Pioneer, right? -Matt-

Holy! You are probably right. I completely forgot about the amp wires. And they would be in that area.....
Ok I just rewired the gauge. It powers up now properly. :) Just need to get the dimmer lead connected, and the sender lead once the fuel rail fitting comes in. I'll get pics in the morning probably.
