hey guys i was cruising behind my friend today on the highway goin about 85 in my 89 cpe and my car started shaking REALLY bad so we stopped at a jack n box and tranny fluid was dripping everywhere especially on the exhaust and main cat. it did this before ( also on the highway ) and i pulled over thinkin tire and checked everything out and it wasnt leaking any fluids but not this time. its dripping pretty consistently ( every stop i can see smoke around me ). between 30-40 mph going up hill when the car would downshift it would shake like this and kinda bog down. anyone have any ideas?

If it's leaking from the rear seal both the seal and bushing may be bad, since it's shaking.

Does it only shake when low on fluid?

no, it does it all the time. i just checked the fluid 3 days ago and it was fine.

Wonder of youre torque converter or flexplate failed. Dont drive it.
PeteK our trans expert should hopefully pipe in he knows the 700r backward and forward.

yeah i sent him a pm. i got it to a shop today and the ' ring ' connecting the tailshaft to the drive shaft broke and the guy said in his 40+ yrs he has never seen one brake. so looks like a new tailshaft is in the future
