Default LT1 electric water pump question

I am getting a MEZIERE electric water pump for my LT1 and have 1 remaining question.

I know the hole in the timing cover has to be pluged. I'm told a 1.25" freeze plug fits perfectly.

What I haven't been able to find out is, if I have to plug the hole in the block where the pump driveshaft bearing would normally set. That's the one through the web between the valve lifter gallery and the timing chain area. If so, what with?

BTW! My engine is on an engine stand, not in the car. So at this point I can do about anything with relative ease.

You dont need to cover the block hole, just the timing cover. It's just a flow path for oil that normally lubes the WP driveshaft roller bearing anyway. You have existing open cast block holes on either side of the bearing hole that are in the same situation.Being open will just allow more oil to lubricate the timing chain.Another option would be to press off the gear and reinstall the shaft and bearing only. This lets you maintain the seal in the cover should you later decide to go back to the mech. pump.

PS:If that concerned about it, just press off the shaft bearing and reinstall it back in the block.I chose to epoxy mesh screen in this hole and all others draining back to the pan should any valve train parts decide to break. This would help capture any broken pieces. Just some food for thought. It really just depends on how far you want to go with the build.
