Same as D36; overall width of rear only changes by year model; not type.
'84-87
'88-'96 is wider which is why late wheels have 56mm offset v 38mm offset for early.
Swapping a D36 for a D44 does not change overall width as you can if you want to swap only the batwing / head unit and retain hubs / halfshaft / etc as they are the same.
Sorry at work; can get you absolute measurement when I get home.
Thanks rodj I would appreciate it. Was under the car yesterday trying to get the Pro Stars to clear the calipers with spacers and was wondering about the length. I have a nice 12 bolt just sittin around and was wonderin if I need to shorten it or lengthen it to fit under the car. That's why I wanted to know the length of the IRS rear. Pipe
You would "tailor" the rear to the tire/wheel combination you wish to mount and the "placement" of the wheel/tire under the chassis. It's I believe of little concern as I would think you would use custom axle tubes and eliminate the c-clip while your doing the build.
I've read dimensions of 60 - 62.5 depending on year "hub flange to hub flange". Never had a reason to confirm it and I don't ever recall seeing anything that I'd pass on as "confirmed"!
The 12 bolt is 64 inches from backing plate to backing plate. It has drum brakes on it yet. I'll have to gather the stuff little by little as i'm kinda short on cash right now. I just had to lay out a bunch of cash for the kids wedding By the way the rear will eventually be going under my 88 THANKS FOR THE REPLY'S Pipe
