Hey guys I had just recently put my car back together after taking trans/clutch out to get to a rear main seal and now have an issue with my 95 6spd where it sounds like it may be grinding at around 3000 in any of the first few gears. Has anybody ran into anything like this? It does sound like it may be come from the clutch/trans area. It doesnt seem to do it anywhere below this rpm and the car seems to run fine other than this? Also the car has 140,000 miles on it and has never had the u-joints replace that I know of. As always all help is greatly appreciated!

Check "ALL of your work"! You mention 140K "original" u-joints! You missed the opportunity to do these "for cheap" while the trans was on the ground. Grinding or "vibration"? If the clutch/flywheel work is "on the button" first guess u-joints and probably when you reinstalled the drive-shaft you've attached it 180* from it's original position.
Yes I most certainly wish I would have done it while it was out now. It isnt that hard for me to get to the driveshaft now as ive had to tighten the dreaded c-beam bolts about 5 different times cause the keep coming loose. I do feel confident that everything is tight as I even used a torque wrench on alot of it just to be sure. I did mark the driveshaft when I had it out so I know it did go back in the original position. So can u-joints cause a problem/sound like this when they are about done? thanks again for all help!
