Temp Gauge on the blink....Help

Temp Gauge on the blink....Help

Just started today. Temp gauge stays on zero for the most part and bounces around from time to time never goes beyond 180-200. What could be causing this? If I need to test something please give instructions as I am a novice mechanic.

The sensor is cheap and easy to replace. Usually less than 20 bucks and 20 minutes. If that does not work you can look further then.

New sensor went in this evening.....no luck. What can I check next?
