Excessive Steering wheel sway on bumpy roads

Default Excessive Steering wheel sway on bumpy roads
Maybe someone can help me with this:

When I drive my Vette on the expressway and hit a bump, the steering wheel seems to turn excessively from side to side. I have to hold it firmly because I'm afraid it'll cause the wheels to turn and take me into the other lanes.

I take it this isn't normal, so is there anything I can do to stiffen up my steering wheel?

how long have you had the car? and did this just start or always been?

Take the car to a good alignment shop, have the suspension checked and, if ok, get a 4-wheel alignment.

I got the car about 6 months ago, but it wasn't until I got on the expressway with it that I noticed the excessive turning. I haven't take it to get an alignment (I'm pretty sure it needs one from other symptoms), so I'll do that and hope that takes care of my 'loose' steering wheel.

Might want to have the rack and pinion checked out for excessive play.

New shocks help mine quite a bit.Some "bump" steer is normal.

It helps to know what year your car is.

Check shocks.
Is there excessive play in the steering wheel?
Have alignment done.
Consider a camber brace
