I have done zero investigation on this, but I thought I'd throw it out on the forum to solicit opinions before I tear into it. My 91 has recently developed an interesting problem. When ever I apply my brakes while going in reverse, the ABS momentarily activates. Ocassionally I'll get a nasty pad-to-metal squeak from one of the front brakes when this occurs. I'm not experiencing any unusual behavior otherwise.
The brakes are stock. The rotors are long in the tooth, the calipers are original, but the pads are fairly new (maybe 15k?) with lots of pad on them. The problem first occurred shortly after a hard day of braking at Summit Point Raceway, but I'm not sure if that is a coincidence or not.
Is it at any speed in reverse.. or just slow... or just fast.. or what? I first guess would be either a speed sensor, or maybe a warped rotor?  not sure.. that's kind of odd that it's only in reverse.
Does this happen only the first time you go to move the car after starting it? It could be you are timing it just right and applying the brakes just as it goes through a self test. If it was a speed sensor you would probably also have it happen going forward at the same speed and applying brakes, just need a little more info.
You may have to remove the rear weel speed senors and clean them up, there may be to many metal shavings built up on them and giving you a false speed reading, also check for excessive weel bearing play.
I had a caliper bolt break that caused a similar problem when going fowards! :mad If the opposite bolt on your caliper broke, then it would be doing it in reverse. See if you have any grooves in your wheels! :mad :mad  :mad :mad
