My '94 is having "slight" PKE problem. Everything in the "system" works except driver door switch. Whenever I turn off the engine, I always have to open and close the passneger door to complete the circuit to shut off the radio. I have tried switching the drvr and pasnger switch and even bought a new one. No go. It acts as if there is no switch at all on the drvr door(courtesy lights stay off whether drvr dorr is open or closed). I've ohm'ed the switch and no problems. I am thinking maybe reseat connector to CCM but I don't have a schematic. The entire system was working fine until about 3 months ago. There is no problem with the transmit/receive, and the car locks/unlocks with respect to proximity of FOB.
I just have not had the time to mess with it until now.
Doe's anyone have a schematic they can post of 94-96 PKE system ?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated...
Red........Thanks for additional info. on removing the trim panel pieces and an actual pic. of the PKE unit. I really appreciate you taking the extra time helping me out.
Hi guys, Just got my first vette a month ago. I have the remote for the car and I changed the battery to it. It DOESNT WORK , I can not have the PKE light come on on the info screen. Maybe the remote will have to be programmed , but how do i turn the PKE system ON. I have no proof that it is working at all......Please HELP.
Thanks

To turn the system "on" hold down the door button until the locks cycle. May take a few seconds.
Turn ignition "on"..see if the PKE bulb in the lower left corner of the DIC goes on for a few seconds. If it doesn't light up try programming the FOB.
Go to "search" there's plenty of info there to help. Type in PKE.

Reason: add info
I chose to leave it alone. I started to remove all components to get the PKE module out and I was disturbed. The Vette is in the garage so, at the time to lock it, I'll do it 53-92 style.

MikeC4,
HOLD ON... DON"T TAKE ANYTHING APART...
The door switches (aka courtesy light switch) are NOT connected directly to the PKE system (so removing/servicing the PKE receiver will not help).
Further, the PKE system has nothing to do with the radio turning off when the door is openned. That is the function of the DAB (delayed accessory bus relay).
The door switches are connected to the CCM, and the signal to the DAB is the same regardless of which door is openned -- so since the passenger door 'works', the problem has nothing to do with the 'PKE' or the DAB, nor the connection between the CCM and these.
To trouble-shoot your problem I would recommend using the CCM diagnostic mode which can display the 'state' of various inputs.
You will find this in the FSM (94's is in section 8D-7 'Display CCM inputs status - Diagnostic mode 1.3). For example, 'input id # 04 (right door ajar) -- 1 = 'open'.
You could then test/'see' the passenger side door switch working and then the driver side switch 'not' working.
BTW, the door switch is a 'grounding' switch without resistance, so you could remove the door switch (through its hole -- doesn't require taking the door apart), and just ground its wire to further confirm it is not the switch. Be sure to try a couple of ground points, just to be sure. The reason is these switches are really poor quality and can fail mechanically or electrically and intermittently too.
Lastly, have you tried putting the key in the door lock and turning it back and forth a couple of times to assure the sensor behind the tumbler is correcly positioned? WHY, there have been reports of the switch behind the door lock having some odd effects. If by chance you had to use the key about 3 months ago, that could just be your problem...
