My engine build project is almost done after 1 year!!
However, I have 1 sensor to go in the block.
At first I could not figure out where one wire connected to a sensor;
Passenger Side,
Just above & rt of freeze plug...
The reason I figured something goes in there was I was filling with anti-freeze when all the sudden anti-freeze starts flowing out of the block. At first I thought the engine builder had screwed up the freeze plug. I then filled again till anti-freeze ran out and was able to feel a sensor hole.
While releived to find a the last spot for the remaining connector I felt it had to be a coolant temperature sensor.
I went to the auto-parts store to get a temperature sensor, I ended up with the same one that goes into the water pump....
Two problems...
1. I could not get it to screw into the hole. I felt like the right size but could not get it to thread.
2. The connector, while similar to the water pump temp sensor connector it was slightly larger so it would not plug into the sensor. Also, the connector while could be equiped as dual wire it was a single wire with a the second wire spot had some terminator. It looks like it potentially could have been an after-market plug as there was some tape further up the wire.
Thanks for anyone's input...
Ken
Thanks all for your input. That explains it the sensor in the head, the guy that took them appart didn't give me any parts back. I sure hope the rest of his work the porting/polishing/installing valves/springs he was more thorough than when he installed them back on the car for me.
