Melting Slicks
You said it seems to have fuel at the rail, but I would start by driving around with a fuel pressure gauge taped to the windshield, so you can see fuel pressure when it dies.
If it has fuel (and it seems like it does), it is probably losing spark and the ICM is a very likely culprit. But it could also be an optispark (not nearly as likely but it happens).

just a thought
ignition coil when it gets hot. Check for spark when it dies. (make certain you aren't indoors to avoid igniting unburnt gas vapors).
Also, fuel pump often suffer intermittent failure before it Kaputs!

If you can "sometimes hear" your fuel pump trying to run at ignition but then go press your fuel rail pressure release valve and a single drop comes out, does that prettymuch mean it is indeed your fuel pump?
