Default pully next to alternator?

looks kind of like alternator, above and toward motor. What is it?

A year is always nice. If it is an L98, it is the air pump.

FYI:
AIR pump pushes air into the exhaust manifold during warmup.

The extra air re-oxygenates the unburnt fuel for combustion in the cats.

That in turn heats up cats faster.

Hot CATs help remove hydrocarbons. (CATs also help remove NOx).

After 5-min warmup, AIR pump shuts off. 1-min duration after warm-restart.

After 5-min warmup, ECM controls mixture (in closed loop operation). The system leans out and runs cleaner.

That's the theory anyway.

Besides cluttering up engine bay, it's not much of a parasite on power.

psh environment
mine was gone when i got my car so just bout the pully kit
